Chemistry Faculty
Description: This intriguing Chem Cam (possibly the Chemistry Faculty of an educational establishment) enables the user to explore around Faculty offices. Just click on the start control and you will be able to gain full control. There are two ways of directing this live webcam, either by clicking on the left and right arrows, or alternatively by just clicking within the live stream image itself. Additionally, the user is able to alter the brightness by just clicking on the "man and sun" icon to the right of the live stream. You will see a choice of 3 camera presets which you can choose from on a drop down menu beneath the live stream. This still image, which looks like a reception area at a university faculty, can be selected using the camera presets drop down menu. You can take control and scan around the screens and surroundings. Unfortunately you are not able to zoom in and out with this webcam and it is therefore difficult to read any detail on the screens. However, you are still able to scan using the arrow keys or clicking on the live stream itself. You can use the camera function to capture live images by simply clicking on the camera icon. This webcam is very simple and easy to use with the user friendly interface being one of its main attributes. The popularity of the live webcam can lead to queuing for control, but users will be shown how long they will have to wait and this is displayed by the timer icon. The hallway still image which has been captured using the camera function displays how crisp and clear this live webcam stream is. There is also the option of viewing a still shot of a panoramic camera angle, achieved by clicking on the button to the right of the brightness control button. Clicking this activates a new smaller window which has a yellow square within it, which can be moved with the mouse and will interact by moving the live webcam stream accordingly.

Maine University, Orono
Description: This strangely addictive live webcam beams images of a staircase within Maine University in Orono, United states. Once the webcam has loaded the live stream will appear displaying the staircase. The webcam is quite limited in that is it static and there are no options to zoom in or out. In fact, there are no options whatsoever for the user to control the webcam. However, it is still a good quality webcam with an extremely smooth live stream that enables the user to observe the University students and staff as they walk up and down the staircase. The user is able to scroll down to the bottom of the screen and will see some previous snapshots. There is also the option to change the mode of the camera by using the drop down menu just beneath the live stream, which enables the showing still images as oppose to a live stream. The user can change this to current still image (which will obviously display the image the user is currently watching). There is also the option of changing this to the last saved picture, which will display an image of what the previous user was observing. By clicking on the Axis- Active-X viewer the webcam will display the live stream. There is a quirky option for the viewer to rate the webcam from 1 - "lose it" to 5 - "very interesting". Also, underneath the rating drop down menu the user will see comments that have been left by other users. These can be added to with your own comments of this interesting live webcam stream. Some of the comments are quite mixed with some users finding it very quiet for a university (not many people around!), while others finding it quite amusing. See for yourselves and leave your own opinions. Images can be saved from the live webcam stream by right clicking the mouse button over the limage whilst in refresh mode. Choosing "Save Picture As..." will then allow for the current image to be saved.
